Why Drink Water?

Why drinking water is important to our survival. We lose water by way of urination, sweating and respiration. We also lose more water from our body when we are active. When the body has less water when we urinate we get a strong odor, and the urine is yellow (amber). This means our body is running out of water. The reason for the colour is that the urine takes out part of our body vitamins that is not good for the body. Beware, sometimes if you are on strong medication the colour of urine may change, that is not due to lack of water in the body.

Importance of Water:

Water is one of the important components of our body. Water takes about 65% of body weight. It acts as a transporter in our body to transport all kind of nutrients to all the tissues and organs of the system and at the same time flushes out the entire toxic component from our organs to kidney. We all know the consequences if we shut down our transport system, same goes to our body, less water shuts down the supply of important nutrients to all part of our body. Apart from that water regulates our body temperature. Dehydration sets in if our body has less water.

Less Water symptoms:

The symptoms of dehydration is tiredness, thirsty, headaches, constipation, back pain, pains in the joints and kidney problems. You may also get dry skin due to lack of water. Lack of water may also cause irregular blood pressure. There are lots more common symptoms for dehydration but tiredness, thirst and the colour of urine are the most important ones.

Benefits of water:

These are the benefits of drinking 9 to 13 cups of water a day:

  1. It is a natural remedy for most of the illness.
  2. Helps to concentrate and alert.
  3. Water helps constipation and digestion system.
  4. Healthy skin, and happy, healthier lifestyle.
  5. Water lubricates the joints and thus eliminate joint pains.
  6. Since drinking lots of water clears our body of all the toxic substances, it may reduce the risk of cancer and other serious sickness.
  7. Drinking more water and less coffee tea and milk may reduce the chances of getting an heart attack.

On the whole, water plays a strong fundamental role in strengthening our immune system. Water do not add calorie. Water is free. So it is important to consume 9 to 13 cups of water a day. Men are advised to take more water than the women. Another important no…. no is taking all the 13 cups in one sitting.

Take a break from your work now, and take a walk to the kitchen and drink a glass of water and repeat this process 10 to 13 times a day. Do this if you want to have a happy and healthy life.
